Connecting to Place

Homewaters Project engages students, teachers, and community members in hands-on investigations of their home places.

Our Audience

True to our roots, Homewaters' primary audience is the teachers in the Seattle area and the students they serve. In addition, we connect the community at large to their local watershed through educational and outreach events.

More Than a Field Trip

All of Homewaters' programs are aligned with Washington education standards and assist students in preparing for Washington State Assessment exams. Our programs especially help teachers work within the new Washington State K-12 Environmental and Sustainability Standards. Our goal is to design programs and curriculum that not only connect students to their home place, but do so in a way that reduces the burden on teachers.

Training and Support for Teachers

Homewaters Project offers training, planning and field support in interdisciplinary programs that extend Seattle and Shoreline schools' science curriculum to the real world. Clock hours and stipends are often available. Sign up to be notified of upcoming teacher trainings and other Homewaters Project news.
