Teach children outdoors

Looking for a way to get outside and share your love of nature with 5th graders this spring? Land and Water volunteers lead students through four engaging stations focused on riparian habitat, stream hydrology, salmon habitat and macroinvertebrate diversity in the vicinity of Meadowbrook Pond. Apply by March 6. Attend training March 14. Learn more.

New creek walk full of discoveriesUrban walk at Ronald Bog

The North Fork Sampler Walk March 14 from 9-11:30 a.m. will trace Thornton Creek from a point north of Ronald Bog southward to Twin Ponds. We will follow storm drain markers, loop through two small arboretums and learn about the Shoreline Transfer Station and its relationship with Thornton Creek. The walk is free, but space is limited. Learn more or sign up. (By the way, the North Fork Long Walk scheduled in February has been postponed due to funding issues.)

Come to a party for all!

Speaking of funding, we are already planning the great time we are going to give you at the Know Your Homewaters Spring Party May 18 from 6:30-9 p.m. Tickets are available through Brown Paper Tickets. Purchase now and save $10! Or boost your impact by sponsoring an entire class participating in Ecosystems or Land and Water.

Another opportunity to make a difference

In our website, blog, Facebook page and Meanderings, we are making it easier for you to suport the organization that provides walkable, inquiry-based, outdoor field investigations for Seattle and Shoreline schools. Especially in the current economic climate, we are proud to offer real-world science programs free of charge - with your help. Please give our new button a test drive today!
